littlelogs

Keep a social journal of your work progress as you make and learn things.

Trying out some of our #littlelogs experiments tonight after a bit of a hiatus. There’s a new tab called Following that replaces the old Home tab, which is now composed solely of your own logs. Littlelogs is primarily about logging your own progress, so the place where you log should be the place where you can actually see your own logs.

Also, there are some headers denoting months in some lists now, making it a bit easier to mark the flow of time as you scroll. And finally, projects and their related tags now get a bit more precedence compared to tags denoting tasks and technologies. It’s kind of awkward that most of the top projects on the trending list are ones I’m working on, but you can fix this!

  1. Create a project description for your tags by clicking on the tag then “add a description”
  2. Use the tag when you log about the project!

Let me know your thoughts. I’m open to feedback, new ideas, and threats of violence if you hate it (I guess).

  • love the headers for months for an easier grasp/concept of time; reminds me of how Instagram still displays number of weeks which is bizarre to me because timestamps like “17 weeks ago” are not helpful at all 😕
  • dig the granularity and difference in tags (projects/related tags vs. one-off tasks/technologies)
  • I like the new user-generated project/description feature. reminds me of Quora and their topics
  • for Projects that already have been fleshed out, I’d expect the CTA to be different (example: when I clicked on Littlelogs, I assume I can go in and replace what’s already there). I’m wondering if there will eventually be a review/approval type of mechanism for projects with more than 1 person involved? or more generic projects (i.e., content, iOS) where many loggers contribute

Thanks folks! @anneliese you’re right, there definitely needs to be some management and review for projects, at the moment it does work best when there’s only one description, although it is possible to have multiple and you’re welcome to redefine littlelogs yourself. Early days and plenty more to do 😊

Yeah, I already see an issue where someone has claimed the whole tag #blog instead of using a unique one for her blog. Definitely some shortcomings in this approach… I’ll keep thinking 💭

I like the month breakdown :) I often scrub through my past entries to see what I did last week, or last month.
