#Trello

Missed my #writing this morning and had to shift it to after work, which knocked out any free time I’d planned between tasks (I’m writing this on commercial breaks of the new BCS episode).

More work on the #MidnightMurderParty editor tonight. I’d hoped to get more done than I did, but I got stuck on a bug for an hour, only to find out that I’d typed the wrong variable name earlier in the code. In any case, syncing a chapter from Docs now works, wrapping up the core functionality. Now comes a lot of smaller features, code cleanup, and prettying up the UI.

I got tired of #2Do not having a web interface, so today I started experimenting with #Trello as my todo list/planner app. The only thing it’s missing that I care much about is start dates, which I think I can manage with some creative Power-Up usage.

Anyhow, show’s over. Onto the next task!

  • Completed the web form project. I did not do #web projects for a long time. This was the first project. I liked it :) I especially liked the new tools, such as webflow.
  • I conceived a new project. The idea is old, but the new implementation.
  • I #read the rules of writing texts MailChimp. I liked their recommendations. I take a mental note.
  • I returned to reading fiction. It’s much more interesting books about the #design :)
  • My #tasks in the system #Trello I like. Time has shown that this system is working.

Finally finished the last #draft of my #article on #buyers #behavior. Tomorrow is for final #proofreading and #editing. I hope the client likes my work since my head is still full of researches(thank you #diigo, thank you #trello, you both saved my [professional] life). Now I’m still discussing with a new client for a part-time #job as an #editor for a local blog. Hope it sticks. While the topics aren’t really exciting, the pay is good and the work doesn’t take long. More updates on that tomorrow. Also the #book #geographyofgenius is pretty great. I keep recommending it to everyone even though I just finished the first chapter :)

Week at-a-glance ritual per usual consisted of:

  • Cleaning up my #Trello board for scrum (archiving last week’s wins, reshuffling #priorities, adding new #project cards)
  • Mind mapping my #workplan for the week ahead (fleshing out said Trello cards with streams of work involved)
  • Cleaning up my inbox (mentally bookmarking product/service newsletters for later & gauging which messages to take a look at first thing tomorrow)

Technologies

  1. User Stories - I will use #Trello as my agile storyboard / user story management and change management
  2. Wireframes - I will use #Axure for wireframes and mock prototyping.
  3. Environment setup - I will use #XAMPP on a local machine with #MySQL as the chosen database and #PHP as my chosen programming language.
  4. Code Management - I will use #bitbucket to practice the behaviour of managing code branches and merging.
  5. Other Technologies - I will employ #css but most probably a bit later once the functional aspects have been covered. The likelihood also is, if I find another technology which assists in meeting the use case and it can be implemented I will. i.e. #JSON / #JQUERY.

Conclusion

Thanks #Littlelogs community for the opportunity to share this with you, sorry the post is too long.

MME – ManageMyEnergy #MME

Project Description

ManageMyEnergy is a project which will use the hashtag of #MME in future. ManageMyEnergy aims to take much of my consulting experience to date and apply real world use cases to help maintain the flow of both momentum and enthusiasm in this project. I guess the more you think about it (relating it to work and real world) the more your likely to trigger the want/need to progress it further.

Project Approach

I will use #littlelogs as my client/public accountability and blog on a set frequency (for which I’m yet to agree). I aim to be as agile as possible in terms of going through the various stages of design and implementation but I also don’t want to be too rigid that it kills my inspiration or enthusiasm. I will use #Trello for storyboard and related task management. I will utilise a number of technologies for which, I would be happy to take suggestions from the #littlelogs community on alternatives as I progress.

Today in #exist I added some links to our brand-specific landing pages, and made sure they were in robots.txt so that we can start to get them ranking in google. Not sure if that’ll work but it didn’t take long to do, so it’s worth testing. I also added our new #trello roadmap to the footer links, replacing UserVoice.

Now that a new version of #exist for #ios with #healthkit is out to beta testers, I’m working on adding #location again. I was trying to add too much all at once and getting overwhelmed by all the bugs I’d introduced so I removed it temporarily. Seems to be working alright now. Only issue is getting background fetch to run often enough, since I have pretty much no control over that.

Also worked on a #trello board as @josh said, for a public roadmap for #exist. Also republished our roundup of Apple Watch apps for tracking your life on Medium. #content

Helping @belle set up a new #trello board for our #exist status/roadmap — instead of using UserVoice for service suggestions, we’ll use a list in trello, and let people see what’s been approved, declined, and recently completed. I think it’s a nicer way to get an overview because it’s a bit more visual. We’ll update the links on the site and Belle will blog about it once all the data has been (manually) copied over.

Monday is the new Sunday, amirite? Winding down from a chill long weekend and gearing up for the short week ahead. Mind mapping my week at-a-glance by updating projects/tasks on my #Trello board and doing some mental #prep for meetings pencilled in tomorrow.
