Got a pretty heavy day at work. Looking into the final implementation details of #Atmosphere for #Java, #Spring, and #Tomcat. Got to get the work done before the #Sprint planning session. Not a fan of such planning sessions but determined to help make it work (company is trying to reimplement it). Later on we have our weekly #Scrum for all the departments to share what they are working on, so in anticipation of that, throwing up 100% focus mode today. Won't get a chance to work on side project stuff today either since I'm taking wife to the doctor in the evening for a routine checkup/scan.. Also, Good Monday Morning littleloggers :D

Wrote some nifty reflective #Java code to handle swapping out XML schemas, but spent far too long dealing with JAXB namespace issues.

Ah #Java. My old nemesis. We meet again. I am not the child I used to be. I understand the #CLI. I understand #TDD. I understand automated builds. Come. Let us fight. Nay. Let us duel in a glorious battle of #Maven builds and #JUnit tests. Your singletons shall have no powers here!

What a day. What a lovely day.

"Mad Code: The fury build". In theatres this week.

working on a pull request for a small open source #python library I use. Also learning about the synchronized type in #java and how it can be used to help with singletons and race conditions when using static members!

back to work on more #java services. Reliability is of the utmost importance for this project, so failing gracefully while logging all errors is a lot of work.

For funsies, used the Android SDK android utility (rather than Studio IDE) to generate a project skel for an android app. Now trying to figure out what its generated build configurations are meant to do. Not sure I really want to use ant, but I may have no reasonable alternative. #Java #Android #Ant

Finished off my #client work today, grappling with #Django admin and trying to extend it to do stuff it isn't meant to do.

I stand by my opinion — do not use the Django admin to make a client-facing admin site, build your own. Or soon enough you will spend all your time working around it.

I think I'm over my #java honeymoon period. Initially I appreciated the strong typing and catching errors at compile time. But I'm pretty over how verbose it is and how much more code it takes to do stuff than in #python! Grr.
