@belle and I recently decided to shift our marketing angle somewhat: now, building our personal profiles is just as important as content for any of the products, because the more visible we are, the more that flows back to what we make. So in the spirit of being more visible, I went and did a blog post. That’s two this year already! Crazy. I wrote about why I own a phone with a hardware keyboard in 2017 (but you shouldn’t). #blogging #content
Published my first industry-specific piece in a while on Medium. Entitled “XX+UX: Tales from the Design Frontier (from a non-designer)”, it’s a recap of key takeaways from a design meetup I attended (per my previous log).
Was a bit hesitant at first as it marked my first piece regarding a discipline I don’t specialize in, but I’m lucky I had a few designer friends to help me beat it up. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. :) #writing #blogging #design
Finally finished my review of #exist, #littlelogs, and #podcast progress in 2015 for the #hellocode blog. It’s long! Turns out there was a lot to talk about. There is a TLDR though, and some graphs that sort of go up and to the right. I hope if you read it you find it informative and educational.
Today I helped edit @belle’s productive habits course (#editing), then started to write a 2015 in review for both #hellocode and myself personally. #blogging is so much effort — I can’t really ever be bothered doing it, but I like having done it. So I shall persevere for these and perhaps spend more time on personal blogging this year in general.
Finally posted my thoughts from my earlier ReadWrite interview onto the Hello Code blog. Barely any of what I wrote ended up in the final piece (which is always the way) so I figured I'd repurpose it as a blog post rather than letting all those words go to waste. It's on the future of activity tracking data. #blogging
I finally finished writing the first of my two blog posts on my #interpreter project! Hoping it's a good mix of example code and explanation, and is easy enough to follow with a Python background but no experience writing a language.
Spent the morning cleaning up my personal #content calendar (less of a calendar, more of a matrix right now) that's served as a parking lot of ideas and rough concepts. Personal #essays and #thoughtleadership pieces have taken a back seat for a while, but am working to commit to more time developing and #publishing them. The first (and possible hardest) step for me is getting my ideas in front of someone, not only to feedback on, but to hold me accountable. My boss has time held this weekend to review my ideas so, the next time we meet, we can map out more of a concrete action plan and schedule. Things are about to get real! #persdev #prodev #writing #blogging
Tackled another huge chunk of Knowledge Base #support articles as mentioned in a previous log. Documenting unique sets of instructions for embedding #content for unique #CMS - noticing so many nuanced differences for navigating #HTML code support; wish it were more standardized/universal across major CMSs. #blogging #documentation
Published a post about my homemade servo on my freshly minted blog http://blog.peterwallhead.com/homemade-arduino-controlled-servo.html #blogging
